The Fighter
We have all been watching Marky Mark Wahlberg drop his pants and show us his glorious chest for quite sometime, and this movie reminded me what made him so damn hot in the first place. The movie was very good, Christian Bale played the druggie brother perfectly. When he wasn’t making want to throw up because he looked completely emaciated. For me the stand out performance in this movie has to go to Amy Adams though. I have never seen her play such a rough role and I wasn’t expecting her portrayal to be all that good. But she really flexed those acting muscles in this one. And while I don’t in general like boxing, the Director David Russell really made me jump a few times, just listening to the sound of a glove hitting flesh. A little too real for me in parts with actual boxing, but overall a good movie. Though yet another movie set in Boston, is this number two for the year? I think so. So if you like watching boxing this is for you, and if you have a girlfriend she can just stare at Marky Mark. But in order to not be scared by the look of the actual people they are portraying leave before the credits start. I had a good feeling about the Pride’s of Lowell and then I saw them in real life, just a little bit too real or Friday night. But yes go see it, it is worth the price of a ticket stub
Black Swan
Bravo! Is the word that first comes to mind. This was truly a good movie, very intense though, and it certainly doesn't leave you with any warm and fuzzy feelings afterward. Natalie Portman has come a very long way from Where the Heart Is. But she did it so well. While the very thing women, make everyone bundled up in winter wear wish that they had the wherewithal to squeeze into a tutu, the visual brilliance of this movie makes it even better to watch. Talk about suffering for a career in the background but portraying grace while on stage. In any case I don’t care if you rent this in the movie theater or watch it at home either way. This movie is good!

Knight and Day
HELLO!!!! Movie studios make a note....Tom Cruise has officially been voted off the island! Stop putting him in movies where he is the lead, I will not go see them he is a crazy Scientology nut from which there is no return. This movie was doomed to fail based on the last few things I mentioned. Cameron Diaz is the same as she always is, please I can't pretend that she doesn't play the exact same role in every movie. In theory this movie could have worked without douch-Cruise and maybe Cameron could have made it work with someone else, but the execution was just totally lacking. With all the moments of just plain old boredom, it well.....it just sucked. Now here is my disclaimer, I am only about an hour into the movie, and while I only anticipate it getting shittier from here I will keep watching. But seriously based on the WASTED hour of my viewing pleasure, don't make the same mistake. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RENT OR WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!

Frankie and Alice
Before tonight, Halle Berry was just another thing to look at on a huge screen, but after seeing her play a woman with multiple personalities I feel like she may have actually stretched her role. The movie was quite simply well done, and should be seen by all. The movie was put together in such a way that kept me guessing, what happened. And then to see the conclusion at the end left me wondering. I would go see more movies like this, you know completely original and not totally formulaic. Movies like this stretch the viewers compassion, and allow them to think about things in a different light rather than just jumping to snap conclusions about people who suffer from multiple personalities. I hope that Halle does more movies like this, both in front of and behind the camera's. While I know it is not possible to just do things like this, I found it more refreshing than anything else that I have seen a while. So this is a must see in the theater. And trust me I am not biased where she is concerned I would have been much happier writing a review telling her to go back to her easy roles because this was too much.
Love and Other Drugs
Well this will be the movie that does it. Before seeing this movie I would have said that Jake Gylenhall was not someone I wanted to see lead in a romantic comedy. Now I would have to say that this movie is the launching of Jake Gylenhall into the hearts of women who go see movies every where. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are getting a little soggy around the edges and this is the guy that will take their place in the huge RomCom industry. Ann Hathaway was great, but I have come to expect that from her, but Jake stole the show. He was the guy that we are all hoping that we meet. You know that line, no one makes a better husband than a reformed rake! And he played it very well. The story line while formulaic, was very good and curvy enough to almost through me off the scent. I would say go see this movie, it will be a nice mini-cation.

Morning Glory
Harrison Ford makes this movie! I have never seen him in such a grumpy yet funny role. But he totally stole the show. Rachel McAdams was good, but it could have been Katherine Heigl and I wouldn't have known the difference. Diane Keaton still has it, I feel as though she has only gotten better. As for fair Patrick Wilson, dude you can undress in front of me ANYTIME! In fact I wouldn't mind if you could do a few more topless scenes. In any case this movie gives you a tickle that lasts over an hour. Long story short, you can go see it or you can wait for DVD either way, it will be good when and if you get to it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I
Okay, let me just say that I am totally biased when it comes to any of the "Potter" movies. I refuse to read the books, because the movies are so descriptive and spectacular. Though I will admit that this was the first one that had me covering my eyes, and I do not scare easily. As sad as the last one was at the end, this one left me sad and stomping my leg, because I don't want to wait until next year to see the end of this story, and since I refuse to read the books I am left biting my nails. FYI if you are an adult that just likes these movies I would suggest that you go to a late show. This one might have the kiddies a little squeamish and squirrely. And yes this is a must see!
Fair Game
Way to go Zucker's! I really felt as though I saw the struggle that Valerie was going through. While you ultimately added another "absolutely" on my conspiracy theory list, I must say well done. Sean Penn was the perfect choice for this role, he was the husband that is so stubborn that you eventually have to see the light. Naomi Watts really looked like a double agent and she played the role of Valerie well. For me it wasn't the acting that made this movie stick out, or pique my interest continually. It was the flow. The way the whole thing was put together. So this is a must see in my book! Maybe even a rent and watch again.
Burlesque
So I know what you have all heard about the movie Burlesque....but I am here to tell you that it is truly entertaining! Now I am not saying that Christina Aguilera is a great actress, because she isn't, but it did appear as though she tried. Cher was, Cher. Truly unconquerable and she reminded everyone in the theater why she still is a force to be reckoned with. Though I will say it is eerie to see that I have more lines on my face than she does, and while her face only moves in certain directions, they all worked for this role. The music and the dancing made this movie, and with snarky/smart ass comments from Stanley Tucci with his perfect comedic timing, really made this movie an escape. And lets face it at this time we all can use a little bit of that. So it is a go see!

The A Team
This movie was everything that an action movie should be. It was fast paced, full of good explosions, and hilarious moments that made you go hummm. This is a must see in the theater as I would hate for you to miss all the action it has to offer. Truth be told I preferred The Losers. My one complaint about this movie was that sometimes the action moved faster than my eyes were able to follow. But yes this is a go see, not a must see though.
Jonah Hex
Okay I am not the biggest Megan Fox fan, and though it appeared like sometimes her accent made me imagine nails scraping across a chalk board I have to admit she did a damn fine job. She is not an academy award kind of actress but she played it well enough. Josh Brolin really did Hex to life and though the action and story line were great, the movie was kind of short, just topping over an hour. It probably isn't worth going to see in the theater, you might as well save your cash and rent it on DVD.
Cyrus
This movie was comedic genius. Even if it was bad I would tell you to go and see it, because the more of these independent type movies people go see the less big budget remakes that end up coming out like crap will be released. John C. Reilly played the part effortlessly and he reminded me of a friend, the friend everyone has, who just can't seem to get it together. Marisa Tomei was amazing, but does that woman never age?! Go and see it, it is worth the exorbitant cost to go see it in the theater.
Twilight Eclipse
Okay I am totally biased when it comes to this movie! I loved it! If you saw the first two then you have to go and see the third one in the installment. Where the second one let me down and made me think we just needed to see it to get on with the story and make it to the end. The fight scenes were awesome and the whole cast did a bang up job.

Killers
So overall this movie was pretty good. It was funny! But I have to say Katherine Heigl played the exact same character as she always plays, and I for one am getting a little tired of it. Where is the depth? As for Ashton Kuthcer, the man has finally become a MAN! I think before he was just too skinny and just too young to really pull off the hot lead character. But his timing was perfect. And I now look forward to seeing him as leading man both in action and in romantic comedies going forward. As for the rest of the cast, it was good to see Tom Selleck back in action, he totally played the crazy controlling dad like no one else. Catherine O'Hara was a a bright star with her comedic timing, throughout the whole movie. So to bottom line it, do you need to see this in the theater? No, you might as well wait for it on dvd that way you have time to pause and count all of Ashton's abbs because those were worth more than a thousand words.

Sex and the City 2
Let me preface this by saying, that the clothes were lovely. The jewelry was all that I will never be able to afford or lift my hand or finger while wearing it. Every man in this movie had abs that would make my bedside table look saggy. And could hang a coat on each of their individual ass cheeks. With all that being said.... the story line SUCKED!!! They strayed too far away from the concept of the original Sex and the City. If it had been called anything else this movie would have gone straight to dvd. I as a true fan of the show expected this to be a check in on what my favorite girls in New York were doing. Instead it played in to every stereo type possible, and played upon all the generalities that the ladies have been labeled with over the years. So the sad fact of this is that you can wait for the dvd and you can wait until it is past the New Rentals section when you see it. Who knows seeing this might tarnish the image of the girls that we all know and love forever. I just wish they would have given me what I had missed, but I guess Mr King forgot how to do it, at least with these girls...

Just Wright
FINALLY!!! A leading lady that looks like a real person not a stick figure! I thought this movie was great. As it showcased my very own life. Always a friend never a girlfriend, and we also seem to keep sticking up for the liars. As is so aptly shown by this movie. Queen Latifah was wonderful, her comedic timing, and good girl acting really made this movie what it was. Common on the other hand I think was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that they gave him the part. His line delivery at most times was stiff. His joke making lacked proper timing. His kissing scenes were good but that was probably because he had his lips pressed up to Queen Latifah's. In any case this movie is totally worth going to see whether in the movie theater or at home on your couch it is always nice to see someone resembling a normal person on the screen so it should be something we support. Might I also add that this is the first movie other than the Tyler Perry Why Did I Get Married series with a predominantly black cast.
Letters to Juliet
What is the matter with these movie studio’s? Why does Amanda Seyfried keep getting these roles. SHE CAN’T ACT!! The movie was only saved by Christopher Egan. You know he was in that weird NBC show “Kings” he kind of looks like Heath Ledger, and he is also from Sydney. The point is that his comedic timing was excellent and the classic pained stick up your ass British look, which he nailed perfectly. I just wished that whoever did the wardrobe screwed up! His pants were too tight which made his legs look super long and his feet look like Shrek’s. But back to my hugest gripe….Amanda Seyfried. She reminds me of a pale Pekingese, with those big eyes, and what is worse is that she has the same expression on her face no matter what happens, the same look in her eyes. Are you seeing my point? And worst of all she has these large boobs, and the clothing in the movie really made it quite apparent that she has horrible posture. If you got them use them, but I guess some people are to bland in soul and spirit to make this happen. STOP giving her the lead, and you can wait for this to come out on DVD.
Iron Man 2
I went to see this movie because I wanted to see awesome special effects and hear Robert Downey Jr make smarmy ass comments to Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow’s character). I also wanted to see what kind of super villain Scarlett Johansson would make. The drawbacks of this movie was that the first hour and a half were all about Iron Man’s internal struggle, BORING!! The last 15 – 20 minutes were awesome and the reason that we all go and see something like Iron Man, for the gorgeous special effects. I do wish that they had cultivated the relationship between Stark and Pepper earlier on in the movie, especially when he was dying. He cared more about taking care of his company rather than sharing his love for Pepper who it is obvious that she is his true other half. My point is that just for the shear blow up factor in the last 20 minutes it is worth going to see it in the movie theater. If you just want to watch the depression part you can just go ahead and rent it. In any case I will leave it up to you.

Nightmere on Elm Street
SAVE YOUR MONEY!! This was a movie that should not have been redone. I have never seen the original but it had to have been scarier than what I saw last night. I yawned more than I flinched it was a total waste of money and by the way it is not even worth the wait to get to DVD.

The Losers
This is the type of movie that has been missing for quite a while! Jeffrey Dean Morgan was surprisingly convincing as a covert team leader with lady problems. While Zoe Saldana was great in her part, she doesn't look capable of beating up Mr. Morgan but they certainly had her doing a lot of hand to hand. But it was obvious who the breakout stars were of this movie... Chris Evans and Columbus Short of course. They both had superb comedic timing and were able to make all of their jokes totally believable and the characters that really came to life. Honestly I say this is definitely a good movie to go see in the movie theaters! Not only will you be laughing heartily but the massive blow up scenes and seemingly impossible gun shots make it more than worthwhile.

Death at a Funeral
Death at a funeral can simply be characterized as Dead on Arrival. Don't waste your money. There are some very funny parts in this movie but the rest of it literally put me to sleep, which in all fairness a movie has not done in a long time. I highly recommend you see the original which was released in 2007 with rave reviews and starring Ricky Gervais and we all know he is funny. So save your movie money and your rental money on this movie, because honestly anything else would be better!

Date Night
Well if every couple in the world that was stuck in non-stop routine/boring land had a night like this they would stay together. This movie was cute, and all the funny parts were indeed funny, but alas this was no "Hangover" for the married people. Honestly it seemed like couple central, with all the gayes, daters, and pregnant people. So while it is funny and if there is nothing else that you want to see then it is at least an entertaining time. But in all honesty you could save your money and see it when it hits DVD and be fine.
Why Did I Get Married Too
This movie was very well done, it was what had been missing from the last two movies that he put out. You know the shiteous "I can do Bad All by Myself" and "Meet the Browns", I am trying to avoid "Madea Goes to Jail", which really isn't even worth my talking about. So unlike the rest "Why Did I get Married Too" was AWESOME! Seriously side splitting funny. It shows all the things you wish you could tell your significant other, as well as all the things that we don't say. Either in a movie theater or renting on DVD this movie is worth your time.

Clash of the Titans
Well was it WOW!!? No, but it was okay. I personally love anything to do with mythology. However the fact that Perseus was the only person with an Australian accent. Everyone else sounded reasonably Greek. There were a few very interesting fight scenes, and the graphics were good. But honestly I wouldn't recommend you wasting your money on going to see this in the theater, and if there is nothing else out and you find yourself going to see it, don't bother shelling out the extra cash for 3-D. It really did nothing extra for the movie. Overall not something that sucked but, really not worth going to see in the theater.

How to Train your Dragon
I don’t like animated movies, and personally 3-D makes my head hurt, but this movie was awesome! The story was totally original and it kept me guessing the entire time. When you see a movie that totally makes you forget about reality and take a break, and really isn’t that what movies are for anyway. Whenever I can walk out with the decision that I want a dragon too! Well then the movie must be good. Way to go America Ferrera and Gerard Butler for voices. It kind of blows that it kind of messes with my mental picture of Gerard Butler, because I saw a picture of him at the premiere and his head looked huge to me, which of course is what I associate with cartoons. If you’re an adult take the late show, those pesky children tend to laugh too loud and talk the whole way through. I would tell you more but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Remember Me
If they had made the last 10 minutes of this movie the first ten minutes it would not have been shiteous. Apart from being pointless the best part of this movie was Robert Pattison and his “My start lets me see your soul “look. Emily de Ravin did not translate onto the screen well, at all. And how do you have an Australian playing a girl from Long Island with no accent whatsoever, isn’t that a given that anyone born and raised there comes out with that wonderful accent? At least Robert Pattison was able to sound like someone who grew up in Manhattan, but that could have been the smoldering looks the camera picked up that distracted my hearing. The story line was choppy and hard to follow. The point is that this could have been a good story, the foundation was there, but between casting and bad editing (maybe) the movie sucked. It was a total snoozer. Don’t rent it, don’t buy it, and because it is so bad you won’t be able to see it anyway.
Dear John
First off let me say that I LUV, LUV, LUV Nicholas Sparks books, I have read several of them. I also LUV’d The Notebook. But this movie was worse than crap. It was two hours of masturbation without a happy ending. Channing Tatum looked amazing and while I could dedicate an entire website and blog to worshiping his abbs, they didn’t make up for how bad the movie was. How do you have a movie set in the south, where the main characters don’t sound like they come from anywhere near the south. They may as well have grown up in New York the way they came off. And for the people making these movies, where do you come off screwing up perfectly good books? We already know that when done right his books translate to the screen beautifully, so where did you go wrong. Don’t see it, in a theater, on dvd, or on a plane. It was awful!
Repo Man
I had totally forgotten how good looking Jude Law was until I saw this movie. I am loathe to remember seeing him in any movie where I wanted to lay down and have him take me now. Forrest Whitaker played the big, dumb, loveable friend, who really does mean well. Alice Braga who I have never really paid attention to, did a good job as a high, twisted, and beautiful girl who in the end is worth it. My favorite part of the movie is a cross between The Matrix “Free Morphius” scene and a crazy pain is pleasure kind of thing. It is definitely worth going to see in the movie theater, but if you rent it, there is enough stuff for the girlfriend to watch. Plus if you are a guy there is a lot of blood, guts and shoot’em up scenes. Did I also mention that my mother liked it.
The Green Zone
In all honesty I walked into the movie theater with my mind made up about this movie. I was so sure that it was the Bourne anything but set in Iraq. What I got was a good story line and the feeling that this was probably how it all went down. Matt Damon was good looking as usual, Greg Kinnear was un-impressive but played a bureaucratic shit stirrer quite well. Final conclusion, you can wait for DVD on this one. However if you are a fan of things blowing up, and military take downs, it is worth going to see in the theater.
